Chronology of cameras Boots
This is a small mahogany and brass field camera, in the purest English style.
It bears the name of Boots Cash Chemists. In the early 1900s, Boots pharmacies had a branch in practically every major English city and sold, among other things, cameras of this style. Research conducted in the Boots Cash Chemists archives by British collectors* has not provided more details (such as the manufacturer's name, for example). The manufacturer is very likely to be named Thornton Pickard, but this is only speculation. The shutter is of the Thornton-Pickard type. It is a curtain shutter placed behind the lens, not in the focal plane.
The base likely had a large rotating brass circle.
The back can be positioned in landscape or portrait orientation. Additionally, the articulation system allows for tilting. There is also the possibility of applying vertical shift and tilting at the front standard.
The rack and pinion movement of the front standard allows for double extension of the bellows.
