Chronology of cameras Contessa

This camera is offered in the 1913 Photo-Plait catalog.

It is indeed a Contessa, as the merger with Nettel did not occur until 1919.

Photo-Plait calls it "Contessa" without further details, likely sticking to just the brand name.

Despite our research, we have not been able to categorically determine the model name. However, in 1910, Contessa had a series of cameras whose model names were numbers ranging from 21 to 533. If we narrow it down to those that could be used with a plate or film and had a Tessar or Dagor lens, we arrive at model 53 (assuming we had a complete list of models and their characteristics). The only caveat is that it appears to have had a Compur shutter and not a Koïlos.
