Ce modèle est une évolution du premier Kowa Six présenté en 1966. Celui-ci l'a été en 1972 à la Photokina. Par rapport au premier modèle, le corps a été renforcé, la baïonnette a été changé, mais les anciens objectifs restent utilisables. La taille est légèrement supérieure à celle du premier modèle.
C'est un appareil 6 x 6 à obturateur central incorporé aux objectifs interchangeables. Le viseur et le dépoli le sont également.
Le magasin qui contient le film est aussi interchangeable. Il ne peut être démonté qu'après armement. Un volet protège automatiquement le film lors du démontage.
