Chronology of cameras Gambs
This small folding bed camera is very classic.
Carefully manufactured by the Rietzschel company, it has some interesting points.
The lens (No 71 698) is mounted on a plate which may be removed from the front in less than a second. It is engraved with the name of Gambs a " manufacturer - distributor" at Lyon which also embeds its plate in the sheathing of the body. The shutter is a Gauthier, but this is the only place where you can find the name of the manufacturer : A. Hch . Rietzschel München.
The framing uses a brilliant viewfinder that pivots and comes with a spirit level. But it is likely that it was installed on a tripod and with focus on the ground glass that this unit gave its best results, and for this it has two Congress standard tripod sockets.
The focusing is made by moving a lever in front of a curved scale .
The shape of the focusing and shift knobs seems archaic, and following models will be more strict ...
