Chronology of cameras Cadot

It seems that shift lens cameras were a specialty of this manufacturer, who offered several models in its catalogs.

This type of camera allowed for correcting perspective distortion in photographs of tall buildings or monuments. It has two tripod sockets. For the camera fixed in the horizontal position, the shift lens had no utility.

On this example, the small tightening screw that locks the front plate for the chosen shift value is missing. The possible shift value ranges from zero to two centimeters. Here, there's no way to visualize the correction on a ground glass, so perspective correction is done by "estimation," relying on the photographer's experience as a guarantee of success.
