Chronology of cameras Kiev
The Kiev 19M, produced by Zavod Arsenal in Kiev (Ukraine), is a newer version of the KIEV 19 It is a camera with cover, base, front and grip are plastic. The Kiev 19M with its Nikon Fbayonet, is compatible with Ai Ais lenses of the Japanese brand as well as those produced by others.
The Kiev 19M is an economical alternative for the amateur photographer who wants a second Nikon body without having to pay the Nikon price. However, this is a camera much more limited use than a Nikon camera: speed ½ s to 1 / 500th, no self timer, flash sync at 1/60 and no possible motor.
Similarity with the Nikon FM, the Kiev 19M is a mechanical camera, it does not need batteries to operate; they only serve to supply the cell with a voltage of 6 volts. Another common feature with the FM, the exposure meter is using LEDs, but only two in number, in a form of + and -. When both LEDs are lit simultaneously when pressing halfway down on the shutter button, the exposure is correct.
The eyepiece is also compatible with the round Nikon dioptric correction of the same diameter.
Note that the tripod socket is eccentric to the left of the body base. Although being a little "stiff" in use and noisy, the Kiev 19M is still a good of Nikon lenses carrier.
This camera is supplied as standard with a lens Arsat H f: 1.2, 50mm Ai mount .
