Chronology of cameras Kinon

Document sans titre

This camera exists with different brands.

They are all easily recognizable cameras by their elongated shape, with a very shaped finger rest, a rectangular, sometimes asymmetrical protuberance, around the lens.
The CdS cell indicating the need to use the flash and the sensitivity display are usually to the right of the lens. The lens is a fixfocus, 38 mm, opening at best at f/4. Sometimes it says the maximum aperture is f/3.8, but you can bet it's always the same. It is stated that the lens is from Japan, which is usually an admission of weakness for everything else.
On some models like the Toma AF35, there are two false autofocus windows, although the mention Focus Free is present.

All these cameras were probably manufactured by Premier, a major Taiwanese manufacturer, which sold little under its own name. Wecan examine the Premier PC-500. It's not the same model, but the similarities are strong.

Some cameras coming from the same factory:

__________

Kinon was a brand of mostly very cheap cameras. This one has only two apertures one for flash, the other for everything else. It has only one shutter speed, and the cell only tells the operator when to use the flash. The use of ASA suggests a date before 1985. It is a close relative of the Hanimex 35WF and the Premier PC-200.

Kinon 860S

__________

The brand was registered with a simple logo in 1983 in the USA by Farsharp Industrial Corporation, Taiwan. It was abandoned on April 17, 1986. It was re-registered by the same company on November 4, 1986, with the logo featuring the characteristic shutter-like dot over the "i" and the "o" in the center of which bears the image of an optical device. It was abandoned on March 9, 1990.

This brand was registered with the second logo in France in January 1988 by Ghislain Van Der Does. It covers photographic, cinematographic apparatus, and optical equipment, as well as devices for recording, transmitting, reproducing sound, images, or text and documents. The trademark has expired, presumably in 1990.
