Chronology of cameras APEM
APM is a British manufacturer that emerged from the merger of several older manufacturers, including Rajar, Kershaw, and Marion, in 1921. APM stands for Amalgamated Photographic Manufacturers, as it's quite clear. The commercial brand is APEM, which is easier to pronounce than APM. In 1929, the association split, with a portion retaining the name APEM and becoming part of Ilford.
__________This is one of the wooden and leather box camera models marketed by APEM in the 1920s. The opening is unusually on the side.
It uses APM 241 format film and produces images sized 6.5 x 11 cm. It is likely that this uses 116 format film.
A lever on the top of the camera provides Instantaneous and T (Time) settings, and its neighbor has three apertures.
The earlyphotography website indicates that the same model was sold by Thornton Pickard (Pickard was part of APEM's board of directors), who was probably the manufacturer.
