The Lubitel 166 is a modernization of the Lubitel and Lubitel 2 models. The bakelite is replaced by plastic, and the edges of the body are a bit sharper ... these are the main improvements. This Lubitel 166 is refered to as "Universal", because it's provided with masks enabling it to take 4,5 X 6 cm shoots in addition to the 6 x 6 format.

It should be noted that this Lubitel is labelled with the new brand's name “Lomo” instead of “GOMZ” (changed in 1965).
