Chronology of cameras Gallus

Traduction de Sylvain Halgand

One of the French cameras which hold more the attention! Its manufacture made of polished aluminum can bring besides to error of judgments on its real state. It had probably its air “tired” as of its youth.
It is about a small folding camera. The lens is assembled on a of the same turntable metal than the body of the camera. Scissors connect this plate to the body. The shutter is with curtain. It is wind while turning the central button, which is also the selector speed (1/25 to 1/500 second). The shutter release (I spent time to find it) is the small button which is beside the button of winding in frontage of the body. This button can be pressed, even if the camera is folded up. There is a little on the right, in the body, a threaded hole which I suppose to serve to connect a flexible shutter release. What is strange, it is that platinizes it before is also bored in the same axis. I do not distinguish well the interest of such an assembly.
Behind, there are a table depth of field and four windows (2 reds and 2 green) Film frame numbers window.
The principal lens was Gallix 3,5/50 mm. The model which I have has Boyer Saphir 2,8/50 mm.
In 1950, the version “Gallix” cost 14740 francs, whereas that with Saphir cost 25255 francs. That explains why this version is much less current than the first.
