Chronology of cameras Adox

After the war, lacking the industrial means to manufacture its cameras, the Adox brand utilized the Wirgin factories for a significant portion of its models. The Box 66, sometimes listed as 6 x 6 in catalogs (indicating the format), was manufactured by Hermann Wolf in Wuppertal (source: McKeown).

This unique-shaped small box camera offers a choice between long exposure and instant shot (slider indicated as M<->B on the right in the photo) and between two apertures (slider indicated as oO on the left in the photo). The shutter button is located at the top right (left in the photo), in the middle of a fake wheel (for aesthetic symmetry). A thread for a cable release is provided on the bakelite just in front of this fake wheel.

Distance settings are adjusted by rotating the lens, a meniscus lens (f/8, 75 mm) mounted on a helical screw. Distances are indicated around the lens (1.5-3, 4-6, 7-∞).

There is no flash synchronization. To use a flash, one needed to buy the Blitz model, which allowed connecting a bulb flash under the camera.

A similar camera exists under the names Gevabox and Wolf.
