Chronology of cameras Aires
The Aires Viscount (Vicomte in French) exudes confidence with its nearly 800 grams of metal and glass, along with an original and rather successful design of the top cover.
The Viscount is a 35mm rangefinder camera without a light meter, setting itself apart from contemporary products with its particularly refined finish. It boasts a fixed H Coral 45mm lens with a wide aperture of f/1.9. Additionally, it can accept an optical attachment to achieve a focal length of 80mm. The Seikosha SLV shutter ranges from one second to 1/500, although its reliability is unfortunately not its strong suit.
The Aires Viscount 1.9 was offered at the very democratic price of 40 USD during its time. An even more simplified variant with a Q Coral lens at f/2.8 complemented this enticing offer, considering the quality of the components and assembly.
This is the first 'Viscount' model and the only one not equipped with a selenium cell, unlike its three successors named M28. The viewfinder is collimated with a yellow frame for the 45mm and also a red frame for the available optical attachment.
