Chronology of cameras Linden

There is limited information available about the history of Linden cameras. What is known objectively is that the full name of the company is Friedrich Linden Lüdenscheid, abbreviated as FLL. The company has been in existence since 1782 in the village of Lüdenscheid. Its founder, Friedrich Linden, was a metal caster who took advantage of the proximity of mines in the surrounding area. The local metallurgical industry had such a reputation that, by the end of the 19th century, the aluminum structure of the first Zeppelin airship was manufactured in Lüdenscheid by Carl Berg.

The FLL foundry was renowned for its production of military decorations. During World War II, while it continued this activity, it also contributed to the Nazi war effort by manufacturing belt buckles and other small items for the military. The post-war production of cameras seems to have been a response to the cessation of such wartime manufacturing. FLL produced cameras under its own brands, including the Helios, LindarLindiLindar S,, Rimei, and also subcontracted the production of the Braun Imperial and Kaufhof Reporter cameras.

The company still exists today and has evolved into a successful enterprise in the field of plastics and electroplating for the automotive sector.
