Chronology of cameras Canon
The Canon AF 35M was one of the major highlights of the 33rd International Photography Salon in Paris. This camera boasts five automatic features:
1. Autofocus
2. Exposure automation
3. Flash automation
4. Film advance automation
5. Film rewind automation
What made it innovative was the incorporation of these features into a camera no larger than the compact cameras of that time, which were often manual and less sophisticated.
The lens is a Canon 2.8/38 mm with 4 lenses in 3 groups.
The acronym "CAFS" displayed on the front denotes the use of infrared autofocus. The transmitter is the lens located on the left side (when facing the camera). Moving towards the right, you'll find the collimated frame lighting window, then the viewfinder, and finally, the infrared receiver.
The small lever located at the bottom right of the lens, named "Self-timer Pre-focus," serves a dual function. When lowered, the camera memorizes the focus distance. If the shutter is released before 10 seconds, there is no autofocus adjustment. If you wait for 10 seconds, the shutter is released as with a traditional self-timer. The advantage of this system is the ability to focus, then recompose the shot.
