Chronology of cameras Mazo

Elie Mazo took up residence at 8 Boulevard Magenta in Paris to deal with the trade in photographic equipment at the end of the 19th / early 20th century. As with many of his contemporaries, the part of what he made, what he had made by others and what he used to only distribute is not clear.

In 1909, together with Abbé Tauleigne, he obtained two patents for invention, the title of which refers to photographic cameras. One of them is the Graphostéréochrome quoted in the book "Les appareils photographiques français" under the number 1255. With this same Abbé Tauleigne, E. Mazo owned at the 10th bd Magenta (in Paris) the "Ombres et Lumière" editions specializing in supplies for projection (The latter information was communicated to me by JL Princelle).

Presentation of "La Foldette" on page 5 of the catalog E. Mazo N ° 20 of 1905:
"La Foldette is a detective camera that will be great for cyclists." It is a 9x12 cm format without magazine, but supplied with twelve "extremely thin plate holders, which could be distributed in the pockets without any discomfort". Different lenses could be delivered with the camera, the simplest was a "Orthoscope" (= aplanatic) f / 6 lens. The one who equiped the camera sold by Westlicht was an Anastigmat Mazo series 1 which raised the price from 120 francs to 180 francs (from 408 to 612 euros in 2005), focusing from 2 meters to infinity. Rotating shutter cocked with a key located in the middle of the front face, speeds ¼, 1/10, 1/30, 1 / 100th of a second, triggering with  a bulb or the finger. In addition to the ground glass, two clear viewfinders allow framing, there are two spirit levels and two Congress type threads for use on a tripod.
