Chronology of cameras SFOM
The SFOM, or Société Française d’Optique et de Mécanique, was originally located in Rueil-Malmaison but relocated to Pau during the Occupation. It was there that a small team designed and produced a compact camera using 9.5mm unperforated film for the special services of the military (see the spy camera).
After the war, the company introduced the Sfomax for the civilian market. They also supplied cameras for aerial reconnaissance.
Le Sfomax est un petit appareil utilisant le film 16 mm non perforé donnant des images 14x23. Prévu pour 20 vues en cassettes spéciales. Malgré sa taille réduite, il est équipé d’un télémètre avec mise au point jusqu’à 50 cm. Le corps est en fonte d’alu finement usiné avec gainage synthétique.
L' armement est couplé à l’avancement. L'obturateur permet la pose et les vitesse 1/30 60 100 150 400. L'objectif est un Sfomar F:30 1:3,5 non numéroté. Il a deux écrous de pied non normalisés.
