Chronology of cameras Zeiss Ikon
Traduction de Manuel M
After the acquisition of Voigtländer in 1965, the management of Zeiss Ikon had some difficulties of integrating the ranges of the various brands. This integration was not completed before 1969.
To replace the Bessamatic of Voigtländer launched in 1959 and to fill a void between a proposal general public, Contaflex, and a professional camera, the Contarex, Zeiss introduce a camera intended for the demanding amateurs: the Icarex 35.
This camera launched in 1967 and intended to block the increasingly strong attacks of the Japanese brands, did not meet the expected success, it presented as of its launching a certain number of defects: mount with specific bayonet, not coupled cell and the whole in a camera whose angular style was not any more topicality.
In spite of an attempt of a restart of the sales by the adaptation of a mount with screw 42 mm, the production was stopped in 1971. An ultimate attempt at Zeiss was the launching in 1971 of the SL 706. This model did not make it possible to save the company which stop any production in 1972.
The model presented here is the black version of the Icarex 35 known as “Pro”, it has the prism with cell which qualifies it thus “CS”. Speeds spread from ½ second to 1/1000 second.
The shutter is with curtains. It is equipped with a Carl Zeiss Tessar 2,8/50mm with bayonet mount and with the Super-Dynarex 4/135mm
