Chronology of cameras Rollei
The type 6 of the Rolleicord II is the last of the series, and has already a more modern look with chrome faceplate, quite similar to the Rolleicord III with which is often confounded. But it can be easily distinguished from the III by structural characteristics. It has the typical reflex hood with no direct vision, where the front panel does not open, and instead, and as in other previous models of Rolleicord II has a lateral button to raise a mirror. The eye level vision is thus accomplished via the viewing lens and not directly.
Another major difference is the fact that it still has a red window at the bottom and the first frame has to be positioned manually, whereas the Rolleicord III has automatic positioning of first frame and therefore no red window at the bottom. The Rolleicord type 6 also requires a manual counter-resetting to frame 1 via a small button behind the focusing knob.
This model was produced in 1949-1950, and were produced 5400 cameras. This last type also has two sockets at the front, one for cable release and another for X-synchronization. The shutter is the Compur-Rapid EX/CR00 with maximum speed of 1/500 s.
This specimen is fitted with a coated Schneider Xenar 75mm f3.5, but the type 6 could also be fitted with Zeiss Jena Triotar.
