Chronology of cameras Albini
Founded in 1896 in Milan, the Italian company Albini initially produced magazine-box-type cameras named Alba. The cameras manufactured by Albini are all named Alba followed by a number.
The Alba N° 64 is made of black lacquered sheet metal. Its front shows a lens marked "Doppio Anastigmatico Albini" with an aperture of 5.5 and a focal length of 100 mm (bearing the number 5800).
Below the lens, an aperture selector located in a smile-shaped slot allows for aperture choices ranging from 5.5 to 44. Three cross tenders (two on the sides of the bellows and one below) keep the lens board parallel to the sensitive surface.
The distance adjustment system is unique. It consists of a nickel-plated lever located between the front and the bellows, reaching the front of the camera with a distance scale marked 11/2, 2, 5, and infinity. This lever, through an angular movement and a cam system, moves the rear body of the camera backward by a few millimeters, adjusting the distance between the plate and the lens.
The shutter speed selector, located above the lens, is marked ALBA regulabile. It offers three speeds: 1/25, 1/50, and 1/100, as well as two marked speeds "A" and "B."
The front face is engraved with golden letters indicating ALBA and below it, N° 64 Brevettato, along with the brand logo: a rising sun.
The Alba N° 63 is similar but has a 4.5 x 6 cm format. It does not feature the cutout on the front under the viewfinder.
