Chronology of cameras Lachaize
The company Microfilm Service (3, rue de la Boétie Paris 8th) offered its services for the microfilming of documents. and developed her own equipment, thanks to Paul Lachaize who worked for this company from 1955 to October 31, 1958.
This variant seems to be the most primitive.
This camera is intended to produce microfilms using 35 mm film, a 5 meters long film being contained in a plastic cassette designed for daylight loading and unloading. A device for cutting the film is provided, but is handled once the camera is opened. The big knob allows the winding of the film, cocking the two blades type shutter and increments the counter (up to 99,999).
The body is solid, made of cast aluminum and clearly intended to withstand heavy use.
This model is designed to be installed on a portable stand by means of a Congress type nut, This stand is fitted with two folding arms for lighting. The lens mount has a large focusing helical with three graduations: 0, 1 and 2. The lens is that of an enlarger, "Boyer Paris Saphir « B » 1 : 3,5 F = 50 No 622,840". (~ 1955)
The base carries the No. 7 and 06268 the meaning of which is not obvious.
A rotating indicator shows the proper advance of the film and another indicates that the shutter is cocked. The trigger is electromagnetically actuated (probably by a foot pedal) or by means of a cable release. Similarly, one can cock with a small push-button.
This production is very different from the usual Lachaize products, but the folding stand shows many details that prove a kinship.
A variation exists that seems more recent.
