Chronology of cameras Iso
The ISO Standard is a 24 x 36 coupled rangefinder) with a curtain type shutter, designed and manufactured in the Milan area (Italy) in 1953 by Industria Scientifica Ottica (ISO). This company was founded by the Viganò family after the Second World War. It is the younger brother of the ISOReporter. On the Standard, the focal plane shutter offers speeds from 1/20 to 1/1000 sec.and B exposure.
The lens is interchangeable and screwed with an unusual diameter of 36 mm. This specimen is equipped with a 5 cm 1: 3.5 Iadar (iadar with a capital i at the beginning ) retractable (like Leica); this is the most common (and most modest) of the range offered. By ISO. Its iris has 12 blades.
The focusing is through a dial (Contax type) and the rangefinder is coupled. The photographer can read the distance in a natural way, from above; it can also read the depth of fields range, also directed in the direction of the natural reading position while shooting.
The viewfinder with dioptric correction is interchangeable depending on the focal length of the lens used, as for the Reporter. Here it is shown f = 5 cm.
Standard / Reporter comparison: missing to the cadet the quick cocking under the base (Leicavit type), slow speeds, adjustable curtains depending on the type of flash. Another difference with the Reporter: two flash sockets on front (M and X) instead of one. Both ISO have a very small accessory shoe; While in the standards with regard to the width, but only 1 cm deep.
The wheels on the bottom of the front panel of the case have the following functions: the right (LB) is used to block or release the focusing by the Contax type wheel ; the left (RA) to authorize the rewind (A being the Film advance position).
These devices are of high quality. A very limited number of cameras was born. This one is numbered 10067, making it probably the 67th of the small series. ISO Reporter are starting at No. 5000 and from 1000 to 1500 pieces were produced. For the Standard, it is estimated that the production was even lower.
