Chronology of cameras Alpa
Of course, there's no way the average person could buy this model, so it's safe to say that it's very rare these days to be able to find one.
It was, in fact, entirely dedicated to photographing telephone meters.
For those who weren't born in the pre-geek era, it's important to know that telephones and switchboards weren't digital back then. In large buildings, there were clusters of cabinets filled with a multitude of small electromechanical counters. Each telephone line had its own small counter that displayed unit consumption. These counters were regularly photographed (in batches of 100) and then analyzed to generate individual bills. There was personnel responsible for photographing these counters. Given the small size of the counters, it was crucial to have synchronization between the camera and the cabinets, hence the cone between the two.
As indicated in the catalog presentation, the lens is special (various lenses were used: Staeble, Asahi, Alobody, and Enna, all in 35mm), and the negative size can vary depending on the size of the counters: 24 x 24, 24 x 27, and 24 x 36 mm. A flash (inside the cone) was used to illuminate the counters.
The memo film, on the winding lever, is graduated between 3 and 6400 ASA and indicates a shutter speed of 1/60. The camera can only be triggered using a cable release. A screw locks the aperture at an f-stop between 3.5 and 16.
For rewinding, you pull the button, which is connected to the spindle by two articulated bars, and the whole behaves like a very convenient crank.
According to the literature, the lenses are mounted with a specific bayonet for this model, but it is consistent with the second version of the Alpa bayonet. However, it is impossible to mount normal lenses on this camera, just as mounting the specific "Poste" lenses on a regular camera has no practical use due to the lack of focusing, not to mention that the register may not match.
The camera plate has two pins for quick mounting on the lightbox.
