Chronology of cameras Nikon
In addition to the complete change of numbering, this is an evolution well beyond the F - 801S.
The autofocus, which was already improved between the F-801 and the F-801S, is faster. The possible rate in autofocus tracking jumps to 3 frames per second. To do this, the AM-200 autofocus module fitted to previous models is replaced by CAM-246. The horizontal line of 172 sensors is complemented by a vertical line of 74 sensors.
Subjects are thus better identified by the system. It is possible to choose between a wide measuring range and spot measuring, for greater precision.
The autofocus is also predictive: with moving subjects, it anticipates its position.
Matrix exposure metering now has 8 areas (5 only on the F-801). Three centred areas help refine the measurement on the main subject. It is also possible to use Spot metering or Center-weighted metering (75% on the centre, the rest on the rim).
Flash shooting has also been improved on this model. A 5 zone matrix sensor is positioned in the chamber of the camera. At the release of the SB-25 flash, a series of pre-flashes illuminate the subject before the mirror lifts. The light metering is made by 5 sensors. A calculator incorporates the measured results as well as the distance to the subject (new range AF-Nikkor D with microprocessor and accelerated focusing), and determines the appropriate aperture.
The SB-25 Flash reaches a sync speed of approximately 1/8000 of second.
Slow sync, and sync with the second curtain are possible.
Various programs appear for the first time on the camera addressing advanced amateurs and professionals; a type of automatism so far found only on devices for beginners. There are seven programs:
PO: POrtrait background blur RE: Portrait Flash HF: HyperFocal LA: LAndscape SL: SiLhouette SP: SPort CU: Close-Up set on background blur |
