Chronology of cameras Ricoh
The Elnica are versions of some Ricoh for the Japanese domestic market.
There are few differences between the Elnica 35 and this M version.
When comparing the cameras, besides some minor design changes (collimator's window, strap fasteners, selftimer's lock, battery hatch and position of the tripod socket) we note on the back of the unit , the presence of an auto / manual switch for the use of the flash. I do not have the operator's manual and the historic Ricoh website web is little verbose, thus I can only make assumptions, the Ricoh 35 electronic and the Elnica 35 have a coupling adjusting the exposure according to the distance, it is likely that switch disengages the coupling.
This Elnica does not seem to have an equivalent model for export, but by the end I find this release more aesthetically successful.
This diagram created by VB allows us to measure the complexity of Ricoh's history.
