Chronology of cameras Audouin
The camera is designed for use on a tripod and has a nut on each side for vertical or horizontal shooting. There is also a spirit level and an accessory shoe on each side that can accommodate a viewfinder.
The camera is made of black wood (ebony or blackened pearwood). It accepts double plate holders. The side gate strut have two slots for positioning the plate holder at two different distances.
The Esthégraphe 13 x 18 lens does not have any focal length markings. A wheel located below allows for focusing, with two marks on the side of the lens labeled 3 and 6.
The front plate of the shutter/lens block has an iris diaphragm adjustment slider, with continuous settings marked 2, 4, 8, 16 & 32, a shutter cocking lever, the shutter release and the inscription "Syst Guilbert, breveté S.G.D.G / 2535 J. Audouin, Paris".
Above the lens, a small wheel allows for adjusting the shutter speed, with markings from 0 to 8.
