To replace Kodak 35 RF and 35, Kodak left at the beginning of the Fifties, two new ranges of 35 mm. They were that of Pony and that of Signet. The first wanted to be simple, the second proposed only cameras with rangefinder or cell, sometimes with interchangeable lens. On the European market, one attended a division of the a little similar range between Retinette and Retina.
The 35 is chronologically the first of the range of Signet. It appeared in 1951 and disappeared in 1958. It is very compact. The two windows of the finder and the rangefinder and its two buttons in advance and of rewinding ensure quasi a facial symmetry to him. As one can see it on the photograph, the rangefinder is triangular. The lens is Ektar 3,5/44 mm and the shutter goes until the 1/300 of second.

The advance of film is not coupled with the winding of the shutter. This one is armed with the small cursor which one sees the button above figure 300. Then to be able to actuate the shutter release (with this rest-finger with the particular form), the film should initially be advanced (would be this only of one perforation), if not there remains blocked. The tiny visible button all in bottom of the camera (clearly on the dark base) makes it possible to unbolt the shutter release without to advance film. This button is marked besides “Release”. It will be useful in the event of voluntary double-exposure.
The metal parts of the camera seem to be made of aluminum and thus are blackened.
