Chronology of cameras Rollei

The Rolleiflex 4x4 Model 3 K1.A 423, is easily identifiable by the presence of peep window above the viewing lens, a Compur Rapid shutter to a maximum speed of 500 and a Tessar 1:2.8 as taking lens. The nameplate serial numbers are within the ranges 155,000-159,000 and 522,000-527,000. Production was between December 1934 and January 1938. The hidden body serial numbers (meaning production) are in the range 11,4xx to 14,720 (together with the rare model 422 with Tessar 1:3.5). Franke & Heidecke produced around 3100 of these cameras.

There were a number of variations in this model, the most significant and affecting the shutter mechanism was the change of the intermediate speed of 300 to 250. This particular camera has the 300 speed on the scale.
