Chronology of cameras Mendel G
This 13 x 18 format camera bears the G. Mendel logo, but has all the characteristics of a Tourist type camera from the Etablissements Soulé, G. Mendel being probably just the reseller. The body is in varnished walnut and the attachment of the movable part is done with screws. The front panel allows horizontal and vertical off-centering.
The Pipon shutter, model Pipo, is presented in the Photo-Gazette magazine of 1896. It is built on the principle of iris diaphragms, four articulated blades open and close during the triggering. This shutter is mounted between the front and rear parts of the lens, here a G. Mendel Rectiligne Extra Rapide N° 2.
There is a choice between Time exposure and Instantaneous at five positions, 5, 10, 30, 60, and 120th.
