Chronology of cameras Adox
Starting from the mid-1950s, the name Golf was used for a series of horizontal folding cameras with a 6x6 format. As this type of camera became outdated, Adox kept the name but applied it to a new series of 35mm cameras starting in 1964. These cameras have a modern and very simple design. The body is rectangular, with a metallic top part that has a brushed aluminum appearance, and a black plastic bottom part. The lens is slightly off-center, and the viewfinder is placed as far away as possible from the optical axis. The shutter button is large, rectangular, and flat, made of metal, and has a thread for a cable release.
The series is rational: a simple model, an intermediate model with a collimated viewfinder, and two elaborate models with a light meter. The lens model and its quality correspond to the level of the model.
The Golf I is the simplest model, with an Adoxar 2.8/45mm lens. Its shutter allows for speeds of 1/30, 1/60, and 1/125, in addition to the B (bulb) setting.
