Chronology of cameras Cord
Cameras manufactured by Cord are easily recognizable due to their poor quality of construction and technical simplicity.
While the Super Cord is made of metal, the majority of their production is made of cardboard. The Cord 47 comes in several variants due to minor modifications. The decorative plate around the lens can have embossed characters in one variant, but in another, they are screen-printed. In yet another variant, the decorative plate is the same, but the film winding key is replaced with a knob. It is difficult to determine whether these are deliberate variations or a result of inventory management difficulties.
It is clear that Cord may have pushed the boundaries by creating variants where the only difference is the name mentioned in the instruction manual.
Interestingly, one can notice a strong resemblance to the Box Tengor cameras by Zeiss Ikon in the design, characterized by three stacked circles.

Announced as early as 1938, this model seems to have only been available from 1947 onwards.
The Super-Cord is the most advanced of the Cord box cameras. It is much sturdier than other models in the series because it is made of metal. The knobs that replaced the winding keys are much more robust. The Cord 47 Superas already allowed for the selection of several apertures. Additionally, this model features a retractable yellow filter.
Such a box camera finally matched the competition of that time.
