Chronology of cameras Graflex
Press camera , the Crown , often mistaken with a Speed Graphic , differs from it by the absence of focal plane shutter . Here, there is only one central shutter. The significantadvantage of the Crown in relation to the Speed is a smaller size , a lower weight and the possibility of using ultra wide angle lenses . (The disappearance of the focal plane shutter system helps to draw the board backward ) .
The series of Pacemaker (Crown and Speed together) represents a significant change from the previous Anniversary series. Shift and tilt movements are larger and more numerous ( the optical block can now tilt to the rear), the use of lighter materials makes the assembly less painful to handle. In series, we may found the Graflok back , which allows you to install the Grafmatic backs ( 6 film sheets holder which allows to perform 6 shots in a row , with the overall dimensions of a standard 4" X 5" holder) and backs for 120 film s for formats 6 x 6 , 6 x 7 , 6 x 9 , to 6 X 12 cm . This Graflok back features a Fresnel, providing a very bright image on the ground glass . finally, on the Speed, the focal plane shutter is now synchronized with the flash.
