Chronology of cameras Aires

Aires Camera was a small Japanese manufacturer active during the 1950s. Production began with twin-lens reflex cameras.

The brand is relatively unknown in France because the cameras were not imported there. If you happen to find one in France, it's likely to have been brought directly from Japan or the United States, where the brand was also present, notably distributed by Kalimar.

The highlight of the brand was a series of beautiful 35mm rangefinder cameras, very well made, although over time, the shutters often became frozen.
Cameras in this series were named "Aires 35," often followed by a number in Roman numerals.

__________

This is the telemetric version of the Aires 35. The 35-II is the first Japanese camera to offer a collimated frame in the viewfinder.
Its shutter release is actually the large lever located on the front.
Its overall appearance foreshadows the entire range of Aires rangefinder cameras, especially the 35-III and all its variants.

Approximately 40,000 units were likely manufactured.
