Chronology of cameras Olympus

The launch of the µ-1 at the beginning of the 90's was an event, because this camera associated facility of use, quality and… the beauty. At the point where millions of them were sold, not always to meet a definite need, but only to have this beautiful object.
I remember that having bought it little time after his launching, I always had it on me. Each time, that I got it out, that made “Oh, that it is beautiful… and so small”. I caused so may purchases that Olympus should have granted me a rebate on the purchase of my next camera.
I recall to have made the portrait of ex-serviceman (of the 2nd DB - second French Armoured Division - from General Leclerc) in Montparnasse, the time of the commemoration of Liberation of Paris and I also used it at the Olympic Games of Albertville. But the most outstanding memory with this camera, is a sailing cruise, between Martinique and Grenade in 1993.
We were sailing on an 11 meters ship far from everything for 15 days . I had taken my Canon A-1 to take the photographs and the µ because it was always in my pockets. On the second day at sea, the shutter of A-1 blocked. It could not be remediated. My small µ allowed me to make a few hundreds of slides.
And one day, like Caïn (but without jealousy! ), I assassinated it. I tried to withdraw a film, without having rewound it completely. But I pulled the film to hard and so broke the film advance mechanism. Unfortunately the cost to repair this camera would be more than a new purchase !
De profundis!
Mju-1 is dead, long live Mju-II !
