Chronology of cameras Chinon
The Chinon CXII is elegant with its partial prism cap covering. (unfortunately, it has a tendency to come unstuck)
The usable lenses must be screw-mount, 42 mm.
The CXII is an improved version of the CM. Both cameras share a metal curtain shutter ranging from 1 second to one thousandth of a second.
A light meter (or two?) located in the viewfinder measures the exposure. The meter is activated by gently pressing the shutter button. The viewfinder darkens as the measurement is taken at the actual aperture.
Additionally, the CXII features a self-timer and an LED battery check system. Next to the shutter button, there is a mechanism for double exposure.
In France, Chinon SLR cameras are less known and less common than those of other Japanese brands. This might be due to the brand's late arrival in the market and a delay in gaining recognition. However, Chinon regularly released new models from the early 70s until the late 80s, with a very good level of quality, ensuring full compatibility with M42 and later K mount lenses, at a very attractive price.
