Chronology of cameras Chinon
The Chinon CM-3 was presented at the 32nd Paris Salon in 1977.
It borrows internal elements from the CE-3 but operates as a semi-automatic camera. The exposure display is limited to three red and green diodes located near the eyepiece, indicating the accuracy of the exposure setting. The exposure is considered correct only when the green diode lights up alone. If both the red and green diodes light up simultaneously, it indicates a one-stop exposure difference. Outside this range, only the red diode lights up.
In France, Chinon SLR cameras are less known and less common than those of other Japanese brands. This might be due to the brand's late arrival in the market and a delay in gaining recognition. However, Chinon regularly released new models from the early 70s until the late 80s, with a very good level of quality, ensuring full compatibility with M42 and later K mount lenses, at a very attractive price.
