Chronology of cameras Agfa
The Isola and Isoly are sometimes confused; this is probably due to the similarity of their names and their temporal proximity.
While both use 120 film, the former produces 6 x 6cm negatives, while with the latter they will only be 4 x 4cm. This choice of format on a 6cm wide film is perplexing, but it has the advantage of being compatible with slide films, and the late 1950s and early 1960s correspond to the explosion of slide film use.
The Isola are fairly basic cameras made of metal and plastic. The lens and shutter are at the end of an extendable tube.
The Isoly are also simple cameras. They were launched a few years after the first Isola. They are easily recognizable by their large clear viewfinder. There is protection against double exposures. On the top, a tiny hole with a red dot indicates that a photo has already been taken. The name appears in different places depending on the model. Some specimens have their name spelled Jsoly. The first letter is indeed an uppercase I, with a particular calligraphy.
