Chronology of cameras Polaroid
The main originality of the Vision is that it is a folding reflex camera with autofocus. It has a lens with three 107 mm lenses opening to 12. This autofocus is very special and is controlled by a system called Wink which determines the distance by using the emission of a very brief flash by the flash. A program compares ambient light and distance to typical cases it has in memory to determine the correct flash exposure.
If Wink detects a distance less than 2.7 meters, it automatically inserts an additional lens.
Once the photo has been taken, it makes a U-turn to go and lodge in a dorsal compartment. The entire pack can fit in this compartment, this allows you to "strafe" without worrying about recovering the photos.
Folding the device is complex, but saves significant space when the device is not in use.
This camera was presented at Photokina in 1992.
