A long time before the invention of photography, the Chevalier company was known for his optics for microscopy and astronomy. This view camera is without brand, but equipped with a lens “Photograph with combined glasses. Invented by Charles Chevalier, Engineer patented Optician, Palais Royal 163, Paris”.
It is about a view camera with drawer for the process of Daguerre, on copper plate sheet of silver 13 x 17 cm (Half plate)

Picture two: Boxes to put away the no-sensitize daguerrians plates. That of left can receive 6 plates half-plates and 6 plates quarter of plate. In front of, two supports to polish the plates before sensitizing.

Picture three: On the left, bromine box, on the right, iodine box. Bromine was used in liquid form, from where the presence of the fixing screws. Iodine was it in the form of spangles by impregnation of a blotting paper stuck on a glass plate which one turned over for sensitizing.

Picture four: Daguerrians lenses trusses of “Lerebours and Secrétan in Paris”. The small one is a landscape lens (N° 4093). The large is a portrait lens(N° 8332) Petzval type. In the primary lenses, the diaphragms, in the form of discs, were placed in front of the frontal lens. Lerebours and Secrétan have provides astronomy devices for the most important observatories of the time.
