Le "EF" signifie qu'il possède un flash électronique incorporé. Il date d'une époque où la chose n'allait pas de soi. D'ailleurs, l'appareil a un petit air pataud, car l'objectif n'est plus au milieu de la face avant. Le flash est véritablement un ajout sur un boîtier de Ricoh 35.
Cet appareil n'a qu'une seule vitesse mécanique, le 1/125. Une cellule CdS contrôle l'ouverture. Dans le viseur, une aiguille se déplace le long d'une échelle des ouvertures. Une zone indique la sous-exposition.
Le temps de recharge du flash est de huit secondes. Sa portée maximale est de 4,20 mètres. Il est alimenté séparément de l'appareil par deux piles AA.
