Contessamat STE (reference Zeiss Ikon 10.0656) was launched in 1965. It differs of Contessamat only by the presence of the coupled rangefinder. The Contessamat SE, itself, remains strictly the same camera, but it is associated with a Color Pantar 2.8 45mm. The Contessamat SBE has besides an automatism with the flash.
This small telemetric 24 x 36 of good building has several assets:
- a coupled rangefinder,
- a lens Zeiss Tessar 2.8 50mm,
- a disengageable selective automatism,
- a Prontor-Matic shutter going from the second to the 1/500 of second,
- a center of control in the viewfinder indicating the value of the diaphragm but also the neatness of the focusing,
- a cell with selenium.
But let us see what the advertizing agents of the time in 1965 said to us:
“With this camera Zeiss Ikon, you do not need appreciate the distance at a guess. In the luminous frame viewfinder, you indeed see the image of measure of the coupled rangefinder. The center of control in the viewfinder indicates immediately not only the value of the diaphragm and the centring the subject, but also the adjustment for a perfect focusing. It is the absolute guarantee of an optimum of neatness for each picture. A advantage which one will recognize later with the examination of your exposures. The Contessamat STE still offers nevertheless other advantages: The Prontor-Matic shutter goes until to the 1/500 second and is thus enough very well for the “rapid”sporting views.
