Chronology of cameras Ilford
From 1955, Ilford marketed several series of cameras whose name evokes sport: Sportman, Sporti and Super Sporti. All models in these series were manufactured by Dacora. It is likely that these successive series correspond to changes in models at Dacora. The authorship of these cameras is hardly hidden, because the lenses clearly mention the brand of origin.
__________The Sporti presented here is equipped with a plastic bonnet which indicates the latest evolution of the Dacora model which served as a model.
The inscriptions on the lens are in English and, as a special feature, the winding button is located on the right hand, which is unusual for Dacora.
At the end of its marketing, the Sporti will be supplemented and then replaced by the Super Sporti.
Ilford has been around since 1879, they are a British manufacturer of sensitive surfaces and laboratory chemicals. This firm also sold cameras under its own brand, manufactured by Kershaw, Dacora, Wirgin, etc. These are mostly simple cameras. Until the 1960s, the brand carried by the cameras was Ilford, but following the merger of Ilford (United Kingdom) and Lumière (France) by Ciba (Switzerland), the brand became CIL (acronym formed by the first letter of the name of each company).
