Chronology of cameras Ernemann

Traduction Manuel M

One morning in a secondhand trade, in a tiny village with a few kilometers of mine, I had the attention so held by this camera which I did not realize that the teacher of my children was beside the seller and looked at me in silence to auscultate the object. He knew my interest for the cameras and did not intervene before the end of the transaction.

Such an observation on this camera can take time. The first thing which surprises is that it is about an automatic, i.e. that with the opening of the flap, the bellows spread and the lens/shutter block takes place without any intervention. The viewfinder is straightened like an outgoing devil of its box. With the back, a hood visor masks the ground-glass. It has the form of very particular cross which helps with the determination of the brand. But not need to break the head, the identification of the brand goes quickly, because this one is indicated on the shutter around the lens.
The block went up on an ovoid plate chrome, partly hidden by another black plate. The plate chrome slips into the vertical. A notch prevents it from going down by gravity. To go down again it, it is necessary to press on the lever which is along the pillar of supports right. It is more difficult to realize that the lens/shutter block slips laterally (but a little) on the chrome plate. There are thus well two off-centrings. There is also a double extension as let it think the hooks on listed bellows. A serrated roller located at the front right of the flap (not visible on the picture) advanced a very light carriage, actuating the bellows.
Beside the viewfinder a spirit level is. It is mounted on spring and hinge. A hook maintains it in place, if not, it positions with right angle, in order to allow the catch of level by positioning the camera in horizontal format.
The top of the body being encumbered, the handle is fixed laterally. On my specimen, it whole, but is torn with the level of one of the loops.
The pneumatic shutter makes it possible to go until the 1/100 second
