Chronology of cameras Agfa
Agfa had previously experimented with the "twin-lens reflex (TLR) SLR" hybrid camera design with the Flexilette. In terms of overall appearance and size, resembling a large single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, Agfa created a Reflex TLR, which utilized two lenses—one for viewing and one for capturing the image. The Flexilette closely resembled a TLR, retaining the ground glass viewing.
Shortly after, Agfa decided to take it further by incorporating a pentaprism and full automation, borrowed from the Optima line, hence the name Optima-Reflex. The result was a costly camera (398 DM, more expensive than a Rolleicord) of good quality.
An additional close-up lens could be attached to the two lenses, reducing the minimum focusing distance from 80 to 38 centimeters.
In Canada, it was marketed under the specific name Agfamatic Reflex.
