Chronology of cameras Ernemann
The Ernemann Ernoflex Model I was produced between 1922 and 1926, and succeeded to the Ernemann Klapp-Reflex (single-extension) produced between 1913 and 1919. It is a camera built with high quality standards for plate format of 9 x 12 and 6.5 x 9 cm. The collapsible front makes this otherwise large camera into a convenient size for transportation. The rotating back changes automatically the image frame in the groundglass from portrait to landscape.
This specimen is designed for 6.5 x 9 cm. The Ernemann focal plane shutter delivers speeds in the range of 1/15 to 1/1500 plus Z (time), controlled by combinations of tension and slit width. The maximum speed indicates it is an early camera, as later the top speed was 1/1000. The lens is a Ernemann Ernon of 13.5 cm of focal length and maximum aperture of 3.5.
