The Studiolette 1A is a carefully done folding camera whose body is out of aluminium, except for the sides manufactured out of wood.
The bellows is out of leather.

The characteristic of the Studiolette 1A is that this camera made it possible without addition to use two kinds of sensitive surfaces.

Obtaining six images to the format 6.5 x 11 cm on film in roller of the type 116
Use of metallic frames to the format 6.5 x 9 cm

To pass of film to the frames, it was enough to remove from interior of the back the removable “pressure plate” whose function was to ensure the flatness of the film and to insert the frame charged in an housing of the back of the camera provided for this use.
The plate where the distance scale from focusing is engraved can take two positions on its support according one uses film or plates.
It seems, within sight of the catalogues of sales Photo-Plait, that since 1931, Studiolette 1A were equipped with metallic frame viewfinder. It is not the case of the camera shown on this page.
