Le PC35 AF-M SE est une édition spéciale du AF-M qui se distingue par le gainage caoutchouté de sa poignée, par le bouton de déclencheur noir et l'arrêt automatique du réembobinage en fin d'opération.
Le AF-M fut le premier appareil intégrant le codage DX de reconnaissance automatique de sensibilité de la pellicule.
Le AF-M était une version entièrement motorisée du AF, qui lui-même était le premier compact autofocus de Pentax.
