Traduction de Sylvain Halgand.
An “Autographic” is recognized easily with the dorsal trap door which makes it possible “to write” directly on the film thanks to the small metal stylet.
The n°2 Folding Autographic Brownie launched in 1915. It uses a film 120. Its body is rectangular. In January 1917, the angles of the body are rounded. It is the case of the model photographed.
The successive evolutions of the models are as follows :
Dates | Objectif / lens | Obturateur / shutters |
1915-1923 | Meniscus Achromatic | Kodak Ball Bearing |
1915-1923 | Rapid Rectiliner f8 | Kodak Ball Bearing |
1924-1926 | Meniscus Achromatic | Kodex |
1924-1926 | Rapid Rectiliner | Kodex |
1925-1926 | Kodar f7.9 | Kodex |
On my specimen, the Kodex shutter (thus after 1924) made the exposure with one and two times, the 1/25 and 1/50 sec.
The Photo-Plait catalog of 1925 (P 39) mentions a certain number of possible variants, according to the lens:
To the collectors: always check the presence of the metal stylet to the back of the camera before acquiring it. For my part, I never saw stylet to be sold separately.
