Following my call to know how to distinguish type 148 from the 010, I received an answer of incomparable Chris Eve. He specifies me that on the 148 the button of the ring of Focusing is entirely covered with small teeth, whereas type 010 has a smaller button and who is not covered with these small teeth in great number. In the case of the 010, this button fixed on the ring of Focusing is also larger. The job numbers of the 148 end in the letter “K”, the numbers of the 010 can start with “EK”, but do not have a letter after the number. I thank c.Eve for these precise details.
Retina marked its time. A long time even, since through its various variations, it was manufactured with more than three million specimens during 35 years.
Retina I is the first. It was built in Germany, by Herr Doktor Nagel, at the request of Kodak which wanted to thus sell an “accessible” competitor of Leica. Kodak manufactures since 1934, cartridge 135, that which still feeds the majority of the cameras of today. The new camera must thus use this cartridge. It is small, very quite manufactured (it is German!), easy to charge with its back which opens on hinge. The form will remain quasi unchanged until 1954 with the appearance of the IIc and IIIc.The lens is assembled on helicoid slope, but the camera remains a folding camera, even if the bellows are very small.
Would this be there a chief of work? Personally, I think it. Unfortunately, my Retina badly aged. The helicoid slope is damaged, but what I love my lame duck!!
