Le Pentax KM est une version moins sophistiquée du Pentax K2, avec un obturateur rideau en textile (et de plus moins performant) et une cellule CDS au lieu d'une cellule au silicium.
Par rapport au modèle KX, il n'offre pas le renvoi de lecture de l'ouverture sur la bague de l'objectif.
