Chronology of cameras Seibido

The Rollekonter A is the evolution of the Rollekonter II.

The front side is more sophisticated , commands now being under a hood . As its predecessor the lenses are U.Hitonar.
This non-functional copy does not allow to check all the features of the camera.
The selftimer on the side of the cameradisplays the particulars 8, 10, 12 and 15 and should therefore allow to adjust the delay between 8 and 15 seconds.
Similarly, the frame counter could not be verified but I suppose it is progressive, as the figure visible at rest being 0, and manual reset because there is no sensor to detect the opening of the back.
The retaining mechanism of the finder cap of the Rollekonter II has not been installed on this A, but the mirror system allowing viewing at eye level and the dual function magnifier were preserved.
Contemporary advertisements specify that the shutter is a Compur Rapid, this cannot be checked on this camera and if this is the case, its origin is certainly Japanese as it was the case for the Compur of the Rollekonter II.
Camera-wiki indicates that the shutter has also a T pose which does not seem to be the case for this camera, but only a dismantling would remove doubt.
The top of the front panel normally contains the indications MADE IN above the "R" of Rolle and TOKYO above the "er" of Konter but on this camera, they have been filed down and black painted. Probably the japanese origin of the camera was out of favor at one time or the owner would have preferred the prestige of a German camera to which the name could claim for.

It is possible to read Rolle Konter Work on the focusing dial button which would explain why the Mc Keown's retain this name as the brand of the camera, however Rollekonter seems to have only been a series of camera and not a brand.
